Brick Movie Story - Synopsis. The movie is the debut from director Rian Johnson, who won the Sundance Film Festival's Special Jury Prize. The cues and its verbal style come from the novels of Dashiell Hammett, The movie also honors the tradition of the noir mysteries, here in a fresh territory – a Southern California neighborhood and high school. There, student Brendan intelligence spares no one. Brendan is not afraid to take actions, and knows all the angles. Yet he prefers to remain an outsider, until the day that his ex, Emily , reaches out to him unexpectedly and all of a sudden disappears. Brendan still has feelings for her, so much so, that he must find her. In order To find her, he calls for help from The Brain, while keeping the assistant vice principal only occasionally informed of what quickly becomes a scary investigation. Brendan's soom collides with with Laura, Tugger, Dode, Kara, jock Brad, and The Pin. It is only by working into The Pin's closely guarded inner circle of crime and punishment that Brendan will be able to uncover hard truths about himself and Emily.
